Stage 3: Market & Price
Overview and Objectives of this stage:
Myth: You have to have your entire workshop developed before you market
it.
Not true! However, you do need to have the following critical pieces in
place:
-
Foundation - Purpose, target audience, learning objectives and key
takeaways. This provides the framework for your marketing copy. Check out
Set Direction stage to create the foundation.
-
Overall delivery format (e.g. Single Workshop, Teleclass, Workshop
Series, Retreat). Check out the Design & Develop stage to identify your
overall delivery format.
After defining this critical information, you are ready to price and
market your workshop.
Pricing your workshop, seminar, teleclass or retreat can be very
challenging for some. The objective of the Price stage is to solidify
what you will charge participants and define any promotional strategies
you will utilize (e.g. early-bird registration or 2-for-1).
The objective of the Market stage is to secure space for the workshop,
create your marketing copy, identify your marketing campaign and market
your workshop to your target audience. Marketing it sooner rather than
later will create the momentum for you to complete development and will
minimize analysis/paralysis.
Don’t wait to market your workshop until you have every detail completed!
